Lespedeza t. Gibraltar
Deep lavender to vivid rosy pink flowers that is at its peak in early September. Grows 5′ tall. While technically a shrub, this plant behaves so much like an herbaceous perennial that we have included it in our perennial program. In general Lespedezas have sweet pea-like flowers in shades of pink. The flowering stems become so heavy that the stems arch over producing a handsome fountain-like effect. Lespedezas flower on new wood so they can be pruned to ground level in early spring. Plant in full sun. Does well under hot dry conditions. Prefers well-drained soils.
