We are currently hiring for the following areas:

Tree Department: Nursery Sales/Equipment Operator

****The following position does not require previous plant knowledge, but it is highly preferred. Equipment Operation experience or having the ability to learn how to operate basic farm equipment is required.****

We are a Green Industry leader located in Ashland, VA (about 15-20 minutes north of Richmond, VA). Our Wholesale/Retail Tree Department currently has an opening for an energetic, customer service professional with a passion for plants and working with people. The day-to-day activities of this job include but are not limited to: Equipment operating (skid steer) selling landscape supplies, greenhouse and plant maintenance, problem solving, and assisting customers.

Well-qualified applicants will possess:

A professional horticultural background and/or relevant degree with extensive sales experience
A proven customer service record
A strong background in plant identification and culture knowledge (preferred but not required) or basic knowledge of plants & gardening or an interest in learning as much as possible
A background in retail and/or customer service and passion for selling live materials
An ability to learn quickly and adapt in a changing environment with competing priorities
A passion for the Green Industry
Excellent communications skills
Great people/sales skills
An ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry up to 75-100 lbs
An ability to be detail oriented when the environment requires it
An ability to work in a fast-paced environment and comfortable working independently
A willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather
Reliable transportation

This position is for full-time, year-round employment at Colesville Nursery in Ashland, VA. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package that includes Health Insurance and a 401k plan. It is a Monday-Friday position depending on the season. Saturday mornings are required during our busy seasons. Employees may work anywhere from 40-50 hours per week.

Delivery Truck Driver:

***this position does not require previous plant knowledge, but a commercial driving experience with CDL (commercial driver's license-minimum CDL Class B) is required.***

Overview:

Employees are expected to delight and serve our customers by providing excellent customer service in keeping with Colesville's business philosophy, which is to sell the best possible plants while providing the best possible service.They are expected to Operate with Honesty and Integrity by taking responsibility for their own actions, and being truthful in all interactions. They are also expected to develop strong relationships with others by interacting with others in a way that creates a pleasant and professional working environment.

Responsibilities include:

Drives vehicles in a safe, and courteous manner, driving "defensively" at all times.
Collects cash, checks, or credit card info from customers, makes change if necessary, and records transactions on customer receipt.
Drives truck to deliver such items as plant materials, mulch and other related products, loading and unloading the truck.
Issues or obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
Listens to customer service problems and forwards information to General Manager and/or Operations Manager for resolution.
Performs the duties of Nursery team member, when not making deliveries.
Writes customer orders and instructions.
Cleans inside of truck and performs routine maintenance.
Qualifications:
Valid Class B driver’s license required, Class A is preferred but not required.
Ability to successfully complete DOT Physical and Drug Test as required according to DOT regulations.
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
Employee must be at least 18 years old.
Employee must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
